Baltimore City Health Department Announces New Clinical Hours for Sexual Health Services

BALTIMORE, MD (Tuesday, October 29, 2024) – Today, the Baltimore City Health Department (BCHD) announces a change in operating hours for two sexual health clinics. Effective Thursday, November 7, 2024, the Eastern Sexual Health and Wellness Clinic and the Druid Sexual Health and Wellness Clinic will have new clinic hours to optimize resources, while continuing to deliver quality care.

 

 

Health Commissioner Declares Code Red Extreme Heat Alert for Wednesday, August 28th

BALTIMORE, MD (Tuesday, August 27, 2024) —  With temperatures expected to rise in the Baltimore region and the heat index forecasted to reach over 100 degrees Fahrenheit on Wednesday, August 28th, the Baltimore City Interim Commissioner of Health Mary Beth Haller has declared a Code Red Extreme Heat Alert for Wednesday, August 28th.

 

 

Baltimore City Health Department Extends Code Red Extreme Heat Alert Through Tuesday, August 6

BALTIMORE, MD (Monday, August 5, 2024) — An extension to the current Code Red Extreme Heat alert is in effect through Tuesday, August 6, following the alarming number of residents without power due to recent severe weather conditions.    

 

 

Additional Cooling Centers Added in Response to Escalating Heat Index for Tuesday, July 16

BALTIMORE, MD (Monday, July 15, 2024) — As temperatures continue to rise and the heat index escalates, Baltimore City remains under a Code Red Extreme Heat Alert through Wednesday, July 17. With the heat index expected to exceed 110 degrees on Tuesday, July 16, additional cooling centers will be available across the City for those seeking to escape the heat.The following are the additional cooling centers added for Tuesday, July 16: 

 

 

Code Red Extreme Heat Alert Declared for Sunday, July 14th through Wednesday, July 17th

BALTIMORE, MD (Friday, July 12, 2024) —With temperatures again rising in the Baltimore region and the heat index forecasted to reach over 100 degrees Fahrenheit Sunday through Wednesday of next week, the Baltimore City Commissioner of Health Dr. Ihuoma Emenuga has declared a Code Red Extreme Heat Alert for Sunday, July 14th through Wednesday, July 17th. The heat index is a measure of air temperature and relative humidity and indicates how hot it feels to the human body.

BALTIMORE, MD (Monday, July 8, 2024) — With high temperatures expected to continue in the Baltimore region and the heat index forecasted to reach over 100 degrees Fahrenheit through Thursday, the Baltimore City Commissioner of Health, Dr. Ihuoma Emenuga, has extended the existing Code Red Extreme Heat Alert through Thursday, July 11th. The heat index is a measure of air temperature and relative humidity and indicates how hot it feels to the human body. 

 

Code Red Extreme Heat Alert Extended through Monday, July 8th

BALTIMORE, MD (Friday, July 5, 2024) — With high temperatures expected to continue in the Baltimore region and the heat index forecasted to reach over 100 degrees Fahrenheit into early next week, the Baltimore City Commissioner of Health, Dr. Ihuoma Emenuga, has extended the existing Code Red Extreme Heat Alert through Monday, July 8th. The heat index is a measure of air temperature and relative humidity and indicates how hot it feels to the human body. 

 

Health Commissioner Declares Code Red Extreme Heat Alert for Friday, June 21st through Monday, June 24th; First of the Season

BALTIMORE, MD (Thursday, June 20, 2024)— With temperatures expected to rise in the Baltimore region and the heat index forecasted to reach over 100 degrees Fahrenheit the next few days, the Baltimore City Commissioner of Health Dr. Ihuoma Emenuga has declared a Code Red Extreme Heat Alert for Friday, June 21st through Monday, June 24th. The heat index is a measure of air temperature and relative humidity and indicates how hot it feels to the human body. This is Baltimore City’s first Code Red Extreme Heat Alert of the season.

Health Commissioner Extends Code Red Extreme Heat Alert Through Friday

With the heat index continuing to reach nearly 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the Baltimore region, Baltimore City Acting Commissioner of Health, Mary Beth Haller, has extended the previously announced Code Red Extream Heat Alert through Friday, Sept. 8. The heat index is a measure of air temperature and relative humidity and indicates how hot it feels to the human body.
