The Maryland Community Health Resources Commission has awarded $3.4 million in grants to 15 organizations to fund projects that will expand health access in underserved areas, reduce health disparities and help decrease avoidable hospital costs.
The funding went to federally qualified health centers, free clinics, behavioral health providers, and local health departments and is expected to help 35,000 Marylanders. The projects go toward reducing infant mortality rates, increasing access to dental care for low-income adults and children, addressing the heroin and opioid epidemic and expanding access to primary care services.
