A new commissioner will take the helm of the Baltimore City Health Department on Thursday. Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake introduced Dr. Leana Wen, saying, "We look forward to your thoughtful patient-driven approach that will help us ensure that Baltimore's resident will have the knowledge and access they need to realize healthier lives." Health Commissioner Declares Code Blue Alert in Baltimore for Wednesday – Friday

With predicted low temperatures for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week in the teens, and wind chills in the single digits, the Interim Health Commissioner for Baltimore City is declaring a Code Blue for January 7, 8 and 9.

Tuesday's snow was just part of the winter weather the area is in store for the first full week of the new year. Temperatures are expected to take a dramatic drop prompting city officials to declare a Code Blue Alert. It begins Wednesday.

BALTIMORE - A program that makes it easier for people to get groceries is expanding in Baltimore.

It's called the virtual supermarket and today ShopRite, along with Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, announced it will now cover two additional communities: Perkins Homes and Wayland Village Senior Apartments.

Baltimore, MD (December 16, 2014) — Today, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and Interim Health Commissioner Dr. Jacquelyn Duval-Harvey joined representatives from Klein’s Family Markets and ShopRite of Howard Park, as well as members of the community, to announce the expansion of Baltimore City’s Virtual Supermarket Program to two additional communities—Perkins Homes and Wayland Village Senior Apartments. The Virtual Supermarket Program is a nationally award-winning program that increases food access in neighborhoods designated as food deserts by providing online ordering and delivery options.
